DEL AMOR-cartel-int-AF-70x100

OF LOVE AND OTHER DEMONS

Sierva Maria is 13 years old and she wants to know what kisses taste like. The daughter of aristocrats but raised by their African slaves, she lives in colonial Cartagena de Indias during a time in which the Inquisition and fear still dominated the Spanish Empire.

When a rabid dog bites her, the bishop decides that she is possessed and orders an exorcism to save her soul.

Impotent against the bishop’s orders and against the indifference of his ill wife, the father of the girl obeys, and delivers her to the convent. The bishop entrusts Cayetano, his pupil, to save the child’s soul.

In a dark cell of the convent, the priest and the girl will find themselves seduced by a demon more powerful than faith and reason.

With an intimate narrative and a visual language reminiscent of Renaissance paintings, “Del amor y otros demonios” is based on one of Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s (Nobel Literature Prize 1982) most beautiful love stories.
