❤️ WHY WE LOVE IT ❤️
Within the prospection of world music that has occupied him for the past 30 years, sooner or later Carlos Saura had to tackle the one that characterises the identity of his birth region of Aragón; the jota. He does so in a documentary full of passion and feeling, paying it homage and elevating a type of folklore that is far more complex and deep than most people realise. The superb choreographies and photography complete a fabulous spectacle.
SYNOPSIS
Carlos Saura allows us to experience the joy and strength of the dance and music of “la Jota”. As in “Flamenco”, “Tango” or “Fados”, “Jota” has evolved from a millennial traditional music and dance, to new artistic dimensions. With his own personal style, Saura continues to distill the magic and explore the boundaries of art in its purest state.
“The film spotlights jota dancing, a jumpy-like waltz that shows the range of Spanish moves outside of the familiar steps of flamenco”
