Sci-Fi, Dystopic. Directed by Leticia Tonos
Winner of The Fantastic Pavilion award at Cannes 2023 and backed by the producers of OLD (Gael García Bernal), THE LOST CITY (Brad Pitt), and SHOTGUN WEDDING (Josh Duhamel), this dystopian film coming from the Caribbean (a first from the region) is reminiscent of CHILDREN OF MEN and MOON but with a unique flavour of its own. Starring Mexican talent Sophie Gómez, renowned for her roles in the series ROSARIO TIJERAS and THE HOUSE OF FLOWERS and Paz Vega (SEX AND LUCIA, RAMBO LAST BLOOD, AMERICAN NIGHTS) in the role of VIDA.
It’s year 2147, men are sterile due to a virus leaving humankind almost extinct and Tania, a biologist, is trying to inseminate herself to prevent this with the help of an AI system called VIDA (voice by Paz Vega, reminiscent of MOON or of course 2001). Things take a turn when Azarias, one of the last men and a traveller with a dark past, suddenly appears.
