Co-production between Costa Rica and Venezuela set in the late 1980s in a Nicaragua ravaged by the brutal civil war between the Sandinistas and the Contras funded by the United States. The conflict is seen through the eyes of a girl, the daughter of a Costa Rican family involved with the revolutionary side. Debut director Laura Astorga does a superb job in directing the child actors and gives an agile pace to this story, peppered with occasional humorous moments.
Claudia is eleven years old and has always played the game of being a revolutionary. When her family moves from Nicaragua to Costa Rica, in the middle of the Sandinista Revolution, politics turn out not to be such a funny game.
